From San Diego to the Bay, Californians Say Make Polluters Pay!
Californians came out in force for our Polluters Pay Statewide Tour.
It’s clear: Californians support Making Polluters Pay. Polling shows overwhelming support for a climate superfund program that holds fossil fuel companies accountable for their share of devastating climate costs. Cities and counties representing over half the state’s population are already on the record in support.
Our coalition just wrapped up our Polluters Pay Statewide Tour, and here’s the report from the field: People are more fired up than we could have imagined. From San Diego to Dublin, the energy at every event was palpable.
It’s time for a Climate Superfund in California.

Dublin
The tour started strong in the Tri-Valley area with volunteers recruiting 80 people to listen to inspiring speakers and develop their advocacy skills.
San Mateo
At our next stop, local elected officials spoke up strongly in support. Thanks to Councilmember James Coleman, Pacifica Mayor Christine Boles, and San Mateo Mayor Adam Loraine—just three of the over one hundred local officials who have endorsed Making Polluters Pay!
San Diego
More than 100 people showed up in San Diego. Attendees learned about the looming threat of federal immunity for Big Polluters and plugged into the national coalition pushing back.
Central Coast
Once again, more than 100 people came together in Oxnard to hear stories of climate resilience and get involved in advocacy. Assemblymember Steve Bennett spoke from the heart about his strong commitment to make this policy a reality.
Los Angeles
We’re deeply grateful to the Eaton Fire Collaborative for hosting the event in LA. Fire survivors Mike Cohen and Steve Engelmann shared their stories from the Eaton and Palisades disasters, and State Senator Ben Allen proudly proclaimed his support as a co-sponsor of the Make Polluters Pay bill.
San Jose
At our last stop, Assemblymember Ash Kalra joined us with a rousing speech. We made headlines and finished our tour on a high note!
San Jose Town Hall to Rally Support for ‘Polluters Pay’ Climate Bill – NBC Bay Area
While the tour is over, it’s clear that this was just the beginning. The movement to Make Polluters Pay is strong all across California. After these events, there’s no doubt that we have the grassroots power to see it through.
This was a locally-led project, so we want to uplift the dozens of groups on the ground that planned and participated in these events. Thank you all for your leadership and commitment!
